Last week I got to visit Chicago for the first time. Over the years I’ve driven through the city on my way to Minnesota to see family but never actually got the chance to stop and see the city itself.
It’s a lovely city with a lot of great art to see and good food to try. The Thorne Miniature Rooms at The Art Institute of Chicago was amazing! The level of detail put into each room rivaled any miniature I’d ever seen and the way they made it look like natural light was coming through the open windows in the scenes made me feel like I was looking into a real room.
I also got to wander around Grant Park which is where this photo was taken. The statue and the wall behind it are called the “Spirit of Music (Theodore Thomas Memorial)”. After reading up about Theodore Thomas and all he accomplished musically it seemed like a fitting choice for this episode of “Harps Across America”. The fact the statue is holding a lyre is an added bonus.
I also want to thank every who came out my performance at Uncommon Ground and for tuning in for my appearance on the Chicago Acoustic Unground podcast.
